Quick answer
The Ryzen 7 7700X and Ryzen 7 9700X are about even for gaming in our index (scores 73 and 75, within 5%). Both use the AM5 socket, so they fit the same motherboards. With a mid-range graphics card at 1440p or 4K, the gap mostly disappears because the card sets the frame rate.
