This Privacy Policy explains what information ComputingSkill.com (“this site,” “we,” “us”) collects when you visit, how it’s used, and what choices you have. We’ve tried to write it in plain language rather than dense legal boilerplate. If anything here is unclear, you can reach out through the Contact page.
ComputingSkill.com is run by Ali Ahmad, who is responsible for the information described here.
Information We Collect
We aim to collect as little personal information as possible. The main categories are:
- Contact form submissions. If you use the form on the Contact page, we receive whatever information you choose to include — typically your name or handle, an email address to reply to, and your message.
- Standard server log data. Like most websites, the server or hosting infrastructure behind this site automatically logs basic technical information for every visit, such as IP address, browser type and version, the page requested, referring page, and timestamp. This is standard web server behavior used for security, troubleshooting, and basic traffic monitoring, not information we actively collect through a form.
- Calculator inputs. The numbers and specs you enter into calculators on this site (like a CPU model, a file size, or a wattage figure) are used only to compute the result shown to you. On the Bottleneck, FPS, PSU and PC Upgrade calculators and Can I Run It, your selections are also added to the page address after you press Calculate, so you can copy or bookmark a link to that result. We do not save results on our side. When you or anyone you share the link with opens it, those selections reach our server as part of the address, like any web request, and can appear in the standard server logs described under Log Data. We do not require an account to use any calculator.
- Analytics data, only with your consent. If you accept analytics in the cookie banner, Google Analytics records how pages are used. See Analytics below.
- A short-lived spam counter for the contact form. To limit each visitor to 3 messages in 10 minutes, the site keeps a one-way, salted hash of your IP address with a count, never the address itself. It can’t be turned back into your IP address and is deleted automatically 10 minutes after your last message.
Cookies
This site sets cookies in only these cases:
- cs_consent. Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics in the cookie banner, so it doesn’t ask again on every page. It holds only the word “granted” or “denied” and lasts 180 days.
- _ga and _ga_<ID>. Google Analytics cookies. They are set only after you press “Accept analytics” in the cookie banner, and last up to 2 years.
- WordPress login cookies. Set only for the site’s own editors when they sign in. Visitors never get them.
If you reject analytics, or never answer the banner, Google Analytics is not loaded and its cookies are not set. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. Rejecting after you had accepted also deletes the Google Analytics cookies this site set.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to count visits and see which pages and calculators are used, so we know what to fix and improve. It runs only if you accept it in the cookie banner. Until then, Google Consent Mode keeps every storage type set to “denied” and the Google Analytics script is not downloaded at all.
When you accept, Google receives details such as the pages you view, the page that sent you here, your device, browser and screen type, an approximate location worked out from your IP address, and a random identifier stored in the _ga cookie. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We have turned off Google Signals and advertising personalisation for this site, and we don’t use analytics data to show you ads. Google keeps the data for the retention period set in our Analytics account.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal and you haven’t made a choice, we treat it as “Reject”.

Advertising
ComputingSkill.com shows no ads and has no affiliate links. If that ever changes, this policy will name the provider before it goes live.
Third-Party Services
This site may rely on third-party infrastructure providers for hosting, content delivery, form handling, or similar backend functionality. These providers may process technical data (like IP addresses) as part of delivering the site to you, under their own privacy policies. We do not sell personal information to third parties, and we do not share contact form submissions with third parties except as needed to operate the site (for example, a form-processing or email-delivery service).
Log Data
Standard server logs (see “Information We Collect” above) are generally retained for a limited period for security and troubleshooting purposes and are not used to build individual visitor profiles.
Personal Information
We do not require you to create an account or submit personal information to use any calculator or tool on this site. The only personal information we typically receive is what you voluntarily provide through the Contact form. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and this site is not directed at children.
Data Retention
Contact form submissions are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your message and address any follow-up, after which they may be deleted. Standard server logs are retained for a limited period consistent with normal web hosting practices.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information submitted through this site, but no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
If you’d like to know what information we hold about you (typically limited to a past contact form submission), have it corrected, or have it deleted, you can ask through the Contact page. We’ll respond to reasonable requests to the extent we’re able, given the limited information we actually retain. For analytics, use “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page.
Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
We use Google Analytics only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time through “Cookie settings”. We keep server logs for the site’s legitimate interest in security and troubleshooting, and we use contact form details to answer the message you sent. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your information, to receive a copy of it, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
California and other US states: Do Not Sell or Share
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) defines those terms. Google Analytics is used only to measure this site, with advertising features off. You can still turn analytics off with “Cookie settings” or a GPC signal, and you can ask to know, correct or delete your information through the Contact page. We won’t treat you differently for using any of these rights.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including to reflect new analytics or advertising arrangements as noted above. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
Contact
Questions about this Privacy Policy, or requests related to your information, can be sent through the Contact page.
